One place for your student life. Stead brings your calendar, tasks, courses and messages together with the campus around you - Connect, Opportunities, Student deals and a news briefing - in a single workspace instead of a dozen tabs.
University and college students who want one organized place to start their day, rather than jumping between a learning management system, a calendar, a to-do app and their email.
We're launching first with students at Queen's University, and the product is built to expand to other universities from there. Nothing is limited to one school though - connecting a calendar and uploading a syllabus works wherever you study.
No, and it isn't affiliated with one. Your university's systems stay the source of truth for grades, deadlines and enrolment - Stead is where your own day comes together.
Create an account, connect the calendar you already use, and upload a syllabus. Your term builds out from there. It takes about a minute to begin.
Courses & calendar
Getting your classes in, and keeping up with them.
Upload a syllabus and Stead creates the course and fills it in for you. You can also add a course by hand, and connecting a calendar you already use brings your existing events across.
Stead reads it and shows you what it found - class times, assessments and their weights, the term's schedule, readings - for you to check before anything is saved. Creating the course fills it in, and adding its dates to your calendar or its work to your task list is a separate choice you make.
Yes. Google, Apple and Outlook calendars all connect today, so your existing events sit in the same schedule as your classes.
Yes. Each course keeps its assessments and their weights and works out where your grade stands as marks come in. A What If? panel shows what a score on the next one would do to it.
Campus, deals & news
Connect, Opportunities, Student deals and your briefing.
Two boards. Connect is where students post what they're doing - a study table, a film, a drive home - with how many spots are left, and you can ask to join. Opportunities is where jobs, campus roles, research, volunteering and club openings are pinned up with their host and deadline.
A board of student discounts gathered from official brands, student-discount platforms and other deal resources, sorted into Tech, Study, Dorm/Housing, Food & Lifestyle and Travel. Save the ones you want, and Open Deal takes you to the original offer. The deals are curated for students in Canada, and dated ones come off the board when they expire.
You pick the topics - tech, finance, world, science, sport - and a short briefing sits on your dashboard, refreshed through the day. Open News when you want more from the same topics. Headlines come from third-party sources, and showing one isn't an endorsement of it.
No. Stead doesn't match you to anything. You choose your news topics and filter the boards yourself, and what's there is what was posted or offered - not what an algorithm decided you should see.
Making it yours
How far Stead bends to the way you work.
Most of it. Set Stead in any of sixteen atmospheres, choose the typeface the app is written in, drag every card on your dashboard where you want it and keep only the ones you use, and pick a 12- or 24-hour clock. Courses are filed your way too - your own folders and your own kinds of work.
When you're signed in, yes. Your dashboard's layout, the cards on it, your atmosphere and your typeface all follow your account, so a card you move on your laptop is where you left it when you open Stead somewhere else.
Devices & pricing
Where Stead runs, and what it costs.
Nothing right now. Stead is currently free - the whole workspace, with no paid tier and nothing held back behind one. If paid options are ever added, nothing is charged without your agreement.
Not quite yet. Stead is built for a full screen, so for now it's for your laptop or desktop. A phone app, for iPhone and Android, is on the way.
Yes, for Mac - Stead for Mac is on the Download page, for macOS 14 or later. A Windows app is coming soon. And you never have to install anything: Stead runs in any modern browser too.
Privacy & your data
Who sees what, and staying in control of it.
We treat your academic information as private and only connect the services you choose to connect. You can review how data is handled in our Privacy Policy.
You decide. A Connect post reaches the audience you choose and your personal page is shared only with the people you approve. If someone keeps writing, you can block them - quietly, without Stead telling them.
Yes, from Settings under Account. The Privacy Policy explains what is removed and when.
